Created some mock-ups for the cover and Page 01 (technically Page 03 counting the Cover and the Inside Cover; by Shire Reckoning) which lead to actual pencil to Bristol Board on my lunch break today.
It's been almost two decades in the making but I've finally started! Found some new momentum between being turned-down for a home loan on Thursday (by one f-ing point!) and the nightmare of Monday Morning at Das Office. The current product of the aforementioned weekend Mock-ups is not much to speak of yet. But what can you draw in a thirty minute lunch break after wolfing-down hot pasta?
I'm just excited that I finally started Haven in earnest!
Plan to start on the cover art for Haven #1 later tonight (or more likely Wednesday). Will also upload the little thumbnails along with that WIP. Plan on continuing this Drawing A Day tomorrow to at least get the pencils more-or-less finished by Tuesday night.
The only problem is that on this very week TV rises from the dead like Jeebus did in that one book. So it was written in TV guide and on the Internet, so let it be done!
I'm not so impressed by ads on this very page advertising "The EVENT" on NBC. It sounds too much like FlashForward meets Heroes, meets Farscape, Surface, Threshold, Invasion, Sarah Conner Chronicles, Earth 2, Firefly, etc...(I'm not bitter or anything). I've been burned too many times by new TV that I enjoy only to be "f-ed in the A" with shows being canceled after a well-established and maintained run or before even ONE goddamn complete season. I'm looking at you Firefly and FlashForward. And Threshold.
Apparently the turn-over rate of TV executives is worse than [insert job-title-with-insane-turn-over-rate here] at my employer (
So long rant short, I will be watching the season premiere of House even though I missed the majority of last season. I will gladly watch "The EVENT" if my peeps deem it to be too awesome to miss or it gets blessed for a second season. I was screwed by ABC last year with FlashForward. I missed a few episodes, downloaded them, got caught-up only to learn by 3 episodes from the Season Finale (literally the night I was to start watching new episodes again) that it was not coming back for Season 2.
Goddammit.
So I'm sticking to tried and true House and Fringe (scary...both are on Fox but one is by Bryan Singer et al, the other by the untouchable J.J. Abrams and friends) along with Supernatural for now. And Stargate Universe on Sci-Fi (I mean...Syfy...ugh) although I refuse to watch the network anymore (downloads only, baby!).
Bloodsugar is insanely low, hence the above rambling nonsense rant about TV. I'm going to find something with carbs now...
